We will continue to work towards positive pupil involvement in decision-making related to their development.  Most pupils have their own views on how they see themselves and their own needs. From an early age, children and particularly those with SEN should be actively involved at an appropriate level in discussions about their education, target setting via IEP’s, annual review arrangements and successful strategies. Pupils at Hope High School have an active role in school development through school council, online improvement questionnaires and termly pupil feedback. Children should be encouraged to share in the recording process and in monitoring and evaluating of the school as a whole and their own performance so that every achievement is given a sense of worth, developing confidence and self-esteem.  As all pupils are working towards setting achievable targets for themselves within the class then this can only be viewed as a natural extension.

The School council at Hope High School meets Monthly to discuss school improvement and ensure pupil voice. Each year group has two representative that were voted in following Key Stage presentations. The School council is supported by Mr Schofield from the Thrive team. Roles and responsibilities are shared between the members. These roles include Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. Minutes are completed and shared on School Council notice board. The school council also meet with a representative from the Senior Leadership team once a term to raise questions, concerns and challenge decisions.
