Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch-Up Premium
With effect from the 1st June 2021, the Year 7 Catch-up Premium is withdrawn. The 2019 - 2020 academic year will be the last year in which these payments are made.
The literacy and numeracy catch up premium gives schools additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading and/or maths at the end of Key Stage 2.
The school uses the catch up funding to provide a provision which supports strategies such as:
Accelerated Reader Scheme and Assessment
Bespoke reading intervention schemes which will address gaps in phonics and decoding
1:1 direct specialist teacher instruction
Totum and Magic Belt dyslexia support series
Language and vocabulary support schemes
Numeracy and mathematical concepts support scheme
Assertive Mentoring
In 2016, the allocation methodology changed and schools now receive the same amount of year 7 catch-up premium that they got the previous year, adjusted to reflect the percentage change in the size of the year 7 cohort, based on the October school census.

Coronavirus Catch Up Funding Statement
The government is providing funding to cover a one-off universal catch-up premium for the 2020 to 2021 academic year.
It aims to support pupils to catch up for lost learning so schools can meet the curriculum expectations for the next academic year.
